Can you remember the first time that you sunk your toes into the South Bay sand, or watched the sunset from the Strand?
Some of Shandens’ earliest memories are of spending time with her family at the beach and in the water just west of Longfellow. Growing up in close knit Hermosa taught her a sense of community and resilience.
A transfer from Mira Costa to Cheyenne Mountain High School in Colorado Springs was a cultural and perspective adjustment that enabled Shanden to experience life in the Rocky Mountains. Here she continued to pursue her passion for soccer, and was able to play abroad as well as on Cheyennes’ first Womens State Championship team.
Injuries decided an academic rather than athletic emphasis in college, and Shanden studied Business and Documentary Film Production at the University of Colorado.
After rounding out her degree with additional classes at Brooks Institute of Photography, Shanden assisted various commercial Executive Producers before transitioning into Reality TV Production. She enjoyed her time crewing at the onset of this new type of television programming, and was ecstatic to find herself in the Directors Department on the set of The Biggest Loser.
A new chapter in life had begun, and Shanden shifted her focus to the real estate industry. Her years of experience at Brighton Escrow and as a Mortgage Assistant gave her the knowledge to evolve smoothly into a coveted position in the sales office at Kukio Golf and Beach Club on the Big Island of Hawaii. There she enjoyed her time as the Office and Escrow Manager.
The failing health of a family member called Shanden back to the South Bay after half a decade in Hawaii. While supporting her family, she explored the art of architectural photography, and reacquainted herself with the nuances of Southern California homes and neighborhoods through the lens.
